Primary care of an ethnically and financially diverse population ages 0-102 in outpatient office setting along with 6 other MD/DO and 4 PA/NP, with focus on the entire family as well as individuals. Well- and preventative care as well as diagnosis, treatment and management of urgent and chronic medical conditions of all body systems including psychiatric, referrals and coordination of care where appropriate. Low risk obstetrical care including vaginal deliveries and assist with C-sections, routine gynecological and reproductive care including IUD/dermal implant placement/removal and colposcopy. Pediatric care newborn through teen. Geriatric care including home visits and end-of-life. Office procedures include large joint injections/aspirations, soft tissue biopsy/excision (including circumcision), splinting and casting, wound management.

Investigated transformation of human T-cells of different HLA types into Th1 vs Th2 types via kinetic reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (kRT-PCR) technology to study T-helper cell directed diseases (diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma).

1993-1997 Associate Scientist, Roche Molecular Systems, Alameda, CA
Developed technology for real time detection and quantitation of nucleic acids (DNA, RNA, viral, bacterial) - kinetic PCR. Highlights included the award of a patent (see below); working in Japan at the request of the Japanese government to develop a rapid screening assay of their blood bank for HCV, HIV and other viral pathogens; and collaboration with a team from Lawrence Livermore National Lab to develop a hand-held thermal cycler for potential office/bedside/field detection.
